Peru is one of the most interesting countries of South America. Between the Andes, its costal desert or the Amazonian forest, it would take months to explore the country properly. One of Peru’s most amazing facets is the mix between its fantastic history and its striving for modernity. Pictured here is the Huayna Picchu, the mountain that overlooks Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. The top of the mountain was the residence for the high priest and the local virgins. Every morning before sunrise, the high priest with a small group would walk to Machu Picchu to signal the coming of the new day.
