Di Michelle - Cartagena, Colombia, 2017
I’ve had many magical moments on trips all around the world. Watching Mt. Everest come into view on a mountaintop in Nepal. Setting off waves of lanterns on New Year’s Eve on the islands of Thailand. Stepping foot among the centuries old pyramids in Egypt, and so many more. However, one of my favorite travel memories occurred here, in Colombia. One of the best weekends of my life was spent traveling and exploring Cartagena, Colombia with two of my best friends. We went in early March (2017) and the weather was amazing, 32 degrees and sunny every day. Perfect for bumming on the beach and sipping mojitos in the Old Town.
We spent the day exploring the Getsemani neighborhood and exploring the colorful streets of the walled in Old Town. Street vendors, shops, graffiti walls and vibrant cascading flowers make this town come to life in a way that I haven’t seen before in Colombia.
