Patrick Muntzinger, Kenya, Fall 2016
Fall 2016, I traveled to Kenya and had the most amazing time, discovering this beautiful and diverse country. After an incredible few days at Lake Naivasha and the Maasai Mara, my friend Dion, two of his friends and I decided to head up north into the wild and rural countryside of Kenya.
Our plan was to hike to the top of Mount Ololokwe - in the county of the nomadic Samburu tribe, an area which is rarely visited by any tourists and it's very difficult to reach. For safety, we had to hire two guides from the local tribe, one man carrying a spear and the other an AK47. We were told this was to protect us from wild elephants and rival tribes in the area.
