As the holiday season, and another frigid North American winter sets in, many of us are already knee-deep in the escapist time-drain that is travel planning. We scrape remaining vacation days (Americans get an average of only 14 days a year) and scour the web for deals (we visit about 38 sites before booking a vacation) in the hopes of achieving the traveler’s holy grail: that brag-worthy authentic luxury experience that cost nothing and yields 10x likes on Instagram per post and at least three new profile photos. A millennial can dream, right?
